In a world where we judge and most of the time treat people differently because of a person’s income.
We overlook a man because of his dirty clothes, but give a special seat to a man who appears rich. Even parents are guilty of unconsciously mistreating a son with lower income than a daughter who earns thousands of dollars a month.
I am writing this not because I’m “holier than you”, but yes I am more aware of this judging behavior than most people, but sometimes I miss and guilty of this.
We often have a perception that car mechanics are poorer than us, because they look poor on their dirty clothes.
But last week, I happened to converse with a car mechanic, he said it with pride that his wife and kids look like wealthier than him because of his job. He said car mechanics actually earn P20,000 and up a month. I didn’t let my surprise too obvious because he just shattered my stereotyping mind.
He told me, tinkering car engines has been his passion since he was a boy.
