William Tyndale, First to Translate the Latin Bible into English

Tuesday, April 1st, 2008

I just knew this last Sunday in my church. William Tyndale is virtually unknown to most people, even to the Christians. But he was the one to first translate the bible into English against the will of the Catholic Church leaders.

William Tyndale, a priest of the Catholic Church was determined to share the words of the Bible to the common people. During his time only the priests and nuns were allowed to read the Holy Scriptures, it was crime for an ordinary citizen, even a king and the penalty for defying the law was death.

William Tyndale was a great influence to many including William Shakespeare.

Love Tips for Men

Thursday, February 14th, 2008

To celebrate today’s valentine’s day, i’m giving out a few love advices for men for free. These tips of mine are guaranteed more than 50% effectivity rate :D. I’ve used it many times over and has been successful for the most part.

These tips are for men with good motives in pursuing the woman they seriously like or love. If you’re into sex, well this is not for you.

1. Control yourself. When you see a pretty woman for the first time and inching to get know about her. Learn to control yourself. Don’t ask for her number or address right away. Just be “wholesomely” friendly with her, hide your “interest” in her.

Show a little signs that you like her, but don’t show your motive that you like to date her the next day. Whoah.

2. Eye show. Show through your eyes that you like her. Let your eyes do the talking.

3. Care for her. Help her something out in trivial things, like carrying her bag or her friend’s, not just hers. But do this gradually. Again, hide something for yourself and for the future..hehe.

4. Less texts. Dont send out text messages too much.

The keyword is “gradual” or “self control.”

Take care! Adios Amigos!

Kaka

Kaka, one of the famous athletes I admire both for his skills and his faith in God. I enjoy watching him showing off his undershirt with print “I belong to Jesus” every time he makes a goal. Although for the non-Christians it is a bane for them when Kaka does his thing. Just respect his beliefs.

I read somewhere that he was a virgin when he married his wife. He met his wife when she was 14.

Helen Keller

Thursday, October 25th, 2007

Helen Keller
I first knew about her during my elementary years. A classmate influenced me to buy comics, and one of those is the biography of Helen Keller.

Helen Keller is a popular intellectual celebrity during the 1920s to 1940s. Her life story got me inspired. She was blind and deaf most of her life. She was not born deafblind though, but became one when she got sick by a serious disease at age 2.

Although she was blessed with a well off family, but this is probably not the reason why she overcame her physical limitations. A positive and supportive family is enough.

She was the first deafblind to graduate in college, and magna cum laude at that!

She is also an author, who wrote a total of 12 books, and several articles.

Radicalism also got her into, advocating equal rights to workers. This part of her life is not highlighted in biographies and movies about her since some people find it controversial.

Any negative odds can be prevailed over no matter how difficult. I’ve heard this a long time ago that “Everything has a solution.” It may not be easy sometimes, but here is no reason to sulk in self-pity and despair.

Everything is possible!

Interview of the Dancing Prisoners

Tuesday, October 2nd, 2007

View the interview done by CNN on one or two of those dancers here, and what they can say about this daily “exercise.”

Interview of the Dancing Prisoners

Some of you may have already seen the video of prisoners clad in yellow orange outfits dancing or doing the Algorithm March.

It received varied comments in Youtube. Some say that the prisoners were forced to do it, others say they’d like to spend their time in this jail if they commit a crime.

Some inmates may like what they’re doing, but for those who are not into dancing, it is a sacrifice. Nevertheless, i believe the warden knows what he’s doing, and for a good purpose.

Naozumi “Nao” Tsuchiyama

Tsuchiyama
Thanks to Jobstreet.

Naozumi “Nao” Tsuchiyama has an amputated right leg, but now wears prosthetics. He is a language instructor, but what he really wanted to be is a boxer.

Boxers need a license to become eligible to fight, but was denied by his home country.

He went to the Philippines to apply, but was denied by the GAB. Though medical reports shows that he is fit to fight. His application was rejected twice, but Nao persisted and finally GAB relented and was given his license.

Presently, Nao has a 2 wins, 1 draw and no losses statistics.

I don’t how long he will do boxing, and hopefully will keep on winning. But his story motivated me to pursue my dreams for myself, for my family and for others.

Hopefully it will motivate you as well.

Unconditional Love

Thursday, August 2nd, 2007

FutsalAt 33 years old, i still consider myself a football (soccer) newbie. I tried out TWICE for my high school football team back in the 80s, but the closet gay coach did not find me too cute to play. :D

Then during college days, i was part of our Architecture/Fine Arts football team, but i was just a decoration, just a filler. Just see how i suck at football.

But those setbacks didn’t stop me from loving and playing the beautiful game! I will join with other guys and girls on my first futsal* scrimmage this Sunday August 5.

Do not give up on the things that you love to do, even if it doesn’t love you back.

*Futsal or Futbol de Sala in Spanish, but popularly called indoor soccer/football.

Sexual Abstinence

Monday, June 18th, 2007

My very last sexual encounter was 12 years ago. Sexual encounter I mean was the thing in my body that makes me a man penetrating the woman’s softy thing. Did I like it? Of course I did!

Sex is one the most wonderful things on earth. But sex is not the ultimate ecstasy that any human could experience. Sex can do more harm than good. Not because sex itself is harmful. It’s because we, human beings have constantly misused it. Big time at that!

After I went through spiritual renewal many things have changed. My thoughts, ambitions, friends, lifestyle made a complete makeover, so to speak. My ideal qualifications for a woman also changed. But two years prior to my spiritual turnaround in 1997, I had several sexcapades with different women. I even made a literal list. When I counted it, I averaged one woman in every two months. Maybe I’m too slow for some men out there.

Honestly, I’m enjoying my standard of living now. But life is not always smooth. There were times that I was put in a crossroads where a yummy woman and I are the only people in a room. Many times it happened. Both of our eyes were staring at each other. I could feel the sexual magnet. Thankfully, nothing sexual happened. Not even a kiss!

Will I want to have sex again? I would love to, but only at the correct time. When that time comes the whole bedroom would look like world war three!!!

You may perceive me as strange or fool or whatever. But we’re not on the same boat.

Against the flow!

Love, The Root of All Excellence

Thursday, May 24th, 2007

Nearly everyone of us have all been wondering why some of the things that we do just don’t make an impact. We work hard, but nobody seems to notice our efforts. An employee maybe earning a salary that is envied by his friends, but for him work feels like a heavy boulder. We blame the corrupt politicians for our country’s poverty. Some people might the thinking that having a relationship with God is for the few powerful and perfect people. A few of us are probably thinking of solutions on how to fix our relationship with our friend, sister, or wife, but to no avail. You are popular, you’re like a rock star, people talk about you and your website around the internet, but at the end of the day, you feel sad. You want something to fill that void inside you.

But what do we really need? My answer is LOVE. Just simply love. Love gets the job done!

Athletes who love their game.
Ronaldo, a Brazilian footballer. As a kid he would dribble a football wherever he feels like going. for instance everytime his mother would sent him on an errand, he would always take with his football with him. Awarded twice as FIFA Football Player of the Year. He was sidelined for two years after a career threatening knee injury, but crawled up from the pit and became a hero during the 2004 World Cup.

In basketball, Michael Jordan considered being the greatest basketball player to have ever played the sport. I heard him said something like “The way to develop the mind, has always been through the heart. Love for the game, then the mental part is easy.” (more…)

Interested to Learn the Cebuano Lingo?

Friday, March 23rd, 2007

Proud that I am of my first language which is Cebuano, I would like this language to be known to everyone, and spur interest to those who aren’t familiar about it. For that matter, I will be devoting a page solely for learning Cebuano. You can click English – Cebuano page for updates.

Note:
I will only put which doesn’t have a tagalog equivalent. Tagalog is one of the official languages in the Philippines, the other one is English.

For example:
English – Cebuano
Monday – Lunes – Lunes is no longer necessary since it has an equivalent in tagalog.

Sunday – Dominggo – In tagalog, it’s Linggo. That would be the last tagalog word here. Remember, this is exclusively for English – Cebuano learning *winks*.

Before I start, I thank and give credit to C.S. Canonigo, the writer of the book English – Cebuano Made Easy. I purchased the book at Book Sale. I based this tutorial on that book.

Ok, let’s start!

Pronuciation guidance:
a can be pronounced as a in alamo
u can be pronounced as o in ursula
i can be pronounced as e in illiterate

Days (Mga Adlaw)
English – Cebuano
Sunday – Dominggo (more…)

Give me just what I need

Friday, February 9th, 2007

I can do great things or as a bonus become famous because of the things that i do, but still following the principle below taken from Proverbs 30:7-9 :

There are two things, Lord,

I want you to do for me

before I die:

Make me absolutely honest

and don’t let me be too poor

or too rich.

Give me just what I need.

If I have too much to eat,

I might forget about you;

if I don’t have enough,

I might steal

and disgrace your name.
