Winning is Important

August 27th, 2007

This is the Olympic Creed presented to all athletes during the Olympic Games:

The most important thing in the Olympic Games is not to win but to take part, just as the most important thing in life is not the triumph but the struggle. The essential thing is not to have conquered but to have fought well.”

Personally I found this creed a load of crap, and Olympic Creed at that!

Let me present to you an analogy. Supposedly you are applying for a job, there are others vying for that job position, you’re desperate for a job. You are confident about yourself, your academic background, your experience. You spent already significant amount of money just for job hunting. But you were not chosen. Okay. Just remind yourself that you have taken part, winning that job position is not the important thing, anyway.

Victory is one of the most important things in life. Defeated lifestyle is a life of misery. Whether you are a part of competitive sports, or just about any everyday dealings in life. Be constantly victorious. When defeated, accept it. Be better next time and fight again.

Sexual Harassment

August 23rd, 2007

I love talking about truths, especially the truth about ourselves that we have little or no idea that we have it or do it.

This time it’s about women, again. The subject is about sexual harassment. I believe this is somewhat related to rape.

Sexual harassment only happens when:
1. The “perpetrator” is old and ugly. The latter description has more weight. If you’re ugly don’t ever get close maliciously or innocently to a woman. It’s dangerous. Keep away from women just to be safe.

2. The “perpetrator” doesn’t have money. Money can be a big factor when some of the women would drool over a guy. You get respected or women would lust after you just because you have money. Erap could have been charged with sexual harassment. Thankfully he has lots of money.

3. The “perpetrator” does his thing on women publicly. Regardless of your handsome appearance or financial status, women would take you to court! Women don’t want to be embarrassed in front of people when a man lustfully gets closed with the former.

4. When the “perpetrator” is too fast. Don’t ever get to closed to a girl when you just met her. She don’t want to be labeled as an easygirl.

Whether the sexual harassment (or rape) actually happens or not, a man’s reputation will be at stake!

Racism and Bigotry in the Philippine Media Should be Legally Eradicated

August 20th, 2007

Why legally? There should be a law against racism created by the Congress or the Senate.

Racism in the Philippine media has been going on unchecked for many years. In turn it became accepted as norm in the society, not knowing that those who are recipient of racial slurs curl in embarrassment and hide because their self-esteem has been bruised.

The following examples should be eradicated in the Philippine media:

1. Bigot articles such as Malu Fernandez’s have caused raucous in the Philippine internet forums and discussion avenues. Though some may admire Malu for her “honesty” and fat arrogance, but it did hurt a lot of people especially those who are OFWs. I have a brother who works as a seaman overseas.

Probably, Malu is insensitive, naïve or unknowingly jealous. A number of our overseas workers are earning more than her.

2. Bisayan, Muslim or any Provincial accent spoken in overly mocking way by a non speaker in the movies or television should now be stopped. Because of this it has been accepted as normal in the society.

In other countries making fun at other nationalities’ accent is considered a racist act.

Tagalogs also have their own pronunciation or accent blunders and they should be aware of that fact. Plawer for them is either flower or plower.

3. African or any people with dark skins are constantly the subject of racial discrimination and racialist jokes by Filipinos. You can see or hear them in the movies, or just about anywhere. It has been considered normal. This is simply racism.

Ironic is when a foreigner hurls a racial slur on the brown Filipinos, the latter whine and feel victimized.

Next In Line to Growing Old

August 16th, 2007

I just turned 34 today, August 16.

Many things have changed. Some things have delayed changes, like my good looks.

When i was a teenager, Afterimage’s song Next In Line used to be one of my favorites because it has a good tune. Lame and immature reason, hey i was young and naive then. When i turned 32 two years ago, i heard that song again and the lyrics just out of the blue dawned on me. I could relate to it now. It felt like the singer was talking about me, or about us who are next in line to getting old. Hahaha.

It is indeed an “endless cycle”. I used to ridicule old people, though i no longer do it now. I read in the Bible to respect old people. Although the inevitable will happen, i will be “next in line” to be ridiculed by the younger scums. Hahaha.

Why Beautiful Women Avoid Good-looking or Gwapito Guys!

August 13th, 2007

Let me talk about women again.

I’ve seen this myself many times. A woman endowed with a beautiful appearance clinging on the arms of a man lacking in good-looks. Seldom do I see the other way around. It’s usually the former.

I believe these types of pretty women are looking for security in a relationship. They believe that the ugly men will fall madly in love with them, that these ugly men are not women magnets and thus infidelity is somehow avoided.

These pretty women probably had previous good-looking boyfriends that were two or more timers because these pretty boys could possibly “collect” women with just the wink of an eye.

Now I now why beautiful women elude me, but I’m praying that God will give that pretty woman who will trust a good-looking guy like *cough* me!

Philippine Police, love them or hate them

Good and Bad Habits of the Filipinos

August 7th, 2007

I have labored practically all my life to gather these facts and to provide you the seeking public with sensible and accurate information.

Seriously, this is just a personal observation. What good to others may not be beneficial to some and vice-versa.

Let me start with the bad ones.

Bad habits
1. Freebie suckers. Filipinos are like terrorists waiting to ambush a passing convoy of soldiers. In other words, we always keep an attentive ear on whose going to give us a free meal and the like.

In the internet, Pinoys are like Google’s webspider, scouring the web for any freebies available they could find, free webhosting, free magazines, and the list goes on eternally.

2. White monkey worship. We treat some of our fellow brown or dark-skinned Filipinos with contempt. We joke about them for having dark skin, but when a racist white monkey comes along and flaunts his arrogance, these very Flips whine about being mistreated.

Observe yourself. When you are facing a brown Pinoy, you exhibit a blank unfriendly look. But with a white monkey, your smile reaches both of your ears.

I believe this habit is common to the Asian monkeys, where we used to be under slavery by the rednecks.

Good Habits.
1. Close family ties. I personally think this is the most excellent habit that we Pinoys should continue to put into practice. Without this habit, Filipinos could have sunk deeper into wretchedness to add to our country’s economic challenges.

I just had glimpse of my family while writing this. I miss them so much. I haven’t been with them for more than a year.

2. We are talented. Be it in singing, the visual arts like drawing or painting or web designing. Even simply as a common worker, we stand out.

I used to work in a company owned by a stingy businessman. The furniture workers there created world-class products that I couldn’t believe it was done by them. They could have improved it all the more if they were paid decently.

I know there are lots of good and bad Filipino habits; I just don’t have the time to write. I have a full time job and two blogs to update, hehe.

Signs if a Person is Jealous of Other Peoples’ Achievement

August 3rd, 2007

Usually the objects of jealousy are famous, rich, achiever and good-looking. While those who are envious or jealous are typically the opposite: not famous, not so rich, and not so good-looking. More often than not, the latter has limited knowledge of those they are in envy of.

David Beckham. Currently, he is the talk of the town in the USA. Despite the fact that a lot of people are admiring his looks, his achievements there are still those who don’t.

Have you mercilessly tossed hate comments about David Beckham? I read remarks like he is the Anna Kournikova of football, all looks and no achievement; he is just famous because his wife is. Many want him to fail and all.

If you do one of the things above, then you’re plain jealous or envious!

David Beckham is not all looks, and no attainment at all. He was a member of two previous champion football clubs. He was practically a starter in all of those games. He is the captain of England Football Team for seven years, a rare feat for a football player. He will most likely lead his LA Galaxy to championship.

Kobe Bryant. The same also with Kobe Bryant haters. Just plain jealous of him. Kobe has good-looks, money; achievement and popularity while his haters, oh well.

Paris Hilton. Although I don’t like her because she is not a good role model to younger kids especially girls. She is also one of the most hated, envied upon famous celebrity. Did I say she’s famous, beautiful, and rich? However, I don’t think she has achieved something positive though.

Younger achievers. You feel uncomfortable, you don’t feel like submitting or you refuse to be taught when a younger, but intellectually gifted or athletically talented is around to teach you something.

If you experience the above, then you’re jealous and mixed a bit with insecurity and pride.

I still do get envious, and do the things I mentioned above when not aware of what I am doing.

Unconditional Love

August 2nd, 2007

FutsalAt 33 years old, i still consider myself a football (soccer) newbie. I tried out TWICE for my high school football team back in the 80s, but the closet gay coach did not find me too cute to play. :D

Then during college days, i was part of our Architecture/Fine Arts football team, but i was just a decoration, just a filler. Just see how i suck at football.

But those setbacks didn’t stop me from loving and playing the beautiful game! I will join with other guys and girls on my first futsal* scrimmage this Sunday August 5.

Do not give up on the things that you love to do, even if it doesn’t love you back.

*Futsal or Futbol de Sala in Spanish, but popularly called indoor soccer/football.

How to Handle Yourself When You’re with Conceited People

July 31st, 2007

This is not how to handle the conceited people, but how to handle yourself when you’re around with the usually empty headed high and mighty human beings.

I used to live in a dormitory room which I shared with three other guys. One of my roommates could not stand a minute with my other roommate. I noticed myself that I no longer react negatively the way I used to.

Here are the “tips” I use when am with the self-centered ones.

You are conceited yourself. Don’t wield around the selfish mindset that you are too righteous and don’t have a slightest hint of egoistic attitude.

Do you know why you feel vomiting when you’re with an egoistic person? It is because that egoistic person has beaten you with his own bragging rights.

Be considerate. That conceited person could have come from a troubled family. Probably, he or she has done many good things, but overlooked and unappreciated by those around him or her.

Generally, being able to control yourself will able you to choose your destiny.

You Are Self-Righteous

July 27th, 2007

I am guilty. I am self-righteous. I figuratively pointed a finger on the girl who hurt me, “You good for nothing whore!”. I was the victim, and she the unforgivable sinner, or so i thought.

I hurt my past girlfriends too.

The homosexuals accusing the Christians of being hypocrites. While some superficially pious and condemning Christians hurled words of doom on the homosexuals.

When a homosexual commits a crime rarely you would read or hear it in the news. But when a minister does one mistake, the whole accusing volcano erupts endlessly.

Terrorists try to passionately fulfill their vengeance on the perpetrators who killed their comrades or biological brothers. What?!

Let us think before we lash out someone. Think, zip our lips. Lash out unless it’s really necessary.
